About me
Hello, and thank you for visiting. I’m a UKCP-registered psychotherapist with over thirty years’ experience in private practice, based in the Reading area. Alongside my private work, I worked as a therapist in the NHS for many years and was employed as a Senior Psychotherapist within NHS Psychological Services. I’ve also worked in GP surgeries as a Senior Counsellor, offering support in accessible, community-based settings, and in specialist NHS services.
My approach is grounded in empathy, experience, and professionalism. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, helping them navigate a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. This is underpinned by a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical supervision, and continuous professional development.
In addition to my clinical work, I’ve spent more than two decades involved in the training and supervision of therapists. For over eight years, I taught on the BACP-accredited MA course in Counselling at the University of Reading, and continue to support the development of counsellors and psychotherapists through supervision and mentoring.
I’m registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA). I adhere to the ethical guidelines and professional standards of all three bodies.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I trained and worked as both a general nurse (RGN) and a psychiatric nurse (RMN), and went on to train nurses at a London teaching hospital. This early foundation in healthcare has deeply informed my integrative and compassionate approach to psychotherapy
